After a significant increase in demand for Xero support, and growth in the number of accountants, financial advisors and other clients using our services, Waypoint is pleased to announce a new hire for the Melbourne team. The newest recruit will support internal systems and development, and more importantly, add an extra layer of assistance to client projects and implementations.
On the 28th of July, Garry Dukes will join the team at the Melbourne office. Garry comes to Waypoint with a degree from RMIT in Business Management, and direct industry experience in accounting and finance. He was steered towards this path when a university lecturer suggested his skills and personality were an ideal fit for the industry.
“This drove me to seek out opportunities just like this, and turn it into the career it is fast becoming,” explains Garry. “I love the industry because it’s fast paced yet flexible, so I’m always moving. Plus it’s professional, yet I am able to still be myself.”
In particular, what drew Garry to the position at Waypoint is the opportunity to help passionate small business leaders from a range of industries to achieve the goals they set out to when they started their business. “I’m looking forward to meeting the demands of small business and tackling all the challenges our clients face.”
Director Dan Fairbairn believes Garry is perfectly placed to grow the business with the rest of the team. “I can already see that Garry has an ethic and understanding that fits our values,” said Dan. “I’m confident he will build strong relationships with our clients, whilst using his strong technical and analytical skills to address their problems.”
In his own time, you’ll find Garry on the basketball court, a passion shared with his family for as long as he can remember. He loves good food and craft beer (his own home brew is already in the making) and has recently begun surfing. As for footy, Garry follows Hawthorn, a fact that Dan will eventually come to terms with. “I guess we’ll forgive him for that,” he concedes.
