Service Operations

Service Operations, or ServOps as it’s frequently shortened to, combines a number of different disciplines. It covers the worlds of project, sales and service management.

Three things. One handy system.

Service Operations, or ServOps as it’s frequently shortened to, combines a number of different disciplines. It covers the worlds of project, sales and service management. Typically each of these areas has been managed independently with their own dedicated software tool. Now though, we’re seeing a trend to bringing these three critical elements together on a single platform.
It’s a natural evolution because there is such a clear overlap between project, sales and service management. We’re great believers in the principle of Service Operations and much of our own efficiency is down to having greater control over the operational side of our business. That means when we’re working on ServOps projects for our clients, that we have a real-world context that means we can make smart operational process decisions together.

Core Industries

Professional Services

Professional Services is a broad term which covers accountants, consultants, lawyers, architects and financial advisors to name but a few. Most professional service companies provide knowledge-based services to their clients. Keeping track of billable time, invoicing and of course, managing those all important projects is critical.

Project Management

Delivering successful projects doesn’t happen by magic. You need a great project manager, a lot of clarity and a system to seamlessly manage the entire process. Managing multiple tasks among multiple humans isn’t easy. It’s all too easy to lose visibility of what’s going on and that’s when projects slip.

Information Technology

IT companies are, by their nature complex operations. From delivering proposals, managing projects, handling support requests and ensuring the sales funnel is healthy, it’s clear there are a lot of moving parts. We’re a technology-based company so we can vouch for this. Spinning the multitude of plates is only possible by having robust processes in place supported by the right service operations platform.

Lancaster Consulting – Client Story

We worked with Adam and his team to understand the current process for managing projects. This involved a mix of spreadsheets and paper based documentation. Once we got to grips with the current way of working we were able to develop a new process that would give Adam the visibility needed to manage the day-to-day operations and plan for the future.

Why a good management system is critical for training staff

Picture this: You’re a small company, but you’re busy as hell (never happens I know, but stick with me). You’re running out of hours in the day and you need to hire someone new to help out. However, you don’t want to dilute the workload of others in the team, and you’re teetering on the edge of cost viability.
